DJI Inspire 2 - Best Commercial Camera Drone?
Since its inception, the DJI Inspire 1 dominated the aerial drone technology industry as arguably the most versatile and capable professional camera drone on the market– and now, that same drone that "wowed" drone owners when it was first release just got a major upgrade. DJI unveiled the second generation of its Inspire series and it may just be the most impressive drone we've ever seen. The new DJI Inspire 2 features a 5K RAW Camera, Obstacle Avoidance, numerous levels of redundancy in its flight controller and batteries, in addition to the ability to capture up to 5.2K video in CinemaDNG RAW using the Apple ProRes codec. Best of all, the DJI Inspire 2 is packed with professional grade features at a very inviting price tag.

Why is the DJI Inspire 2 the Best Commercial Camera Drone?

The DJI Inspire 2 is an absolute workhorse for professional commercial drone operators. Whether you use drones for filmmaking or other commercial applications, the Inspire 2 is packed with the power you'll need to get the job done. Just like it's predecessor, the Inspire 1, the robust and sophisticated build of the Inspire 2 is an achievement of an unprecedented level of precision and quality. So much so that we've affectionately christened it as the "The Ferrari of Drones". And we mean it: with a maximum speed of up to 58 mph, the Inspire 2 can now fly at faster speeds and still maintain a stable shot– allowing professionals to extend drone applications onto car commercial film sets, big-budget fast-paced action films, and so much more. The newly designed dual battery system on the Inspire 2 provides up to 27 minutes of flight time, as well as redundancy to prevent failure if one battery has an inflight issue.

Key Features of the DJI Inspire 2 Aerial Camera Drone

  • Impressive Speed

    - Inspire 1 owners will tell you they are blown away by the speed of their Inspire 1. The Inspire 2 brings new top speeds to the drone industry. The massive power that the Inspire 2 packs allows for flexibility and the ability to perform in the most demanding of situations.
  • Professional Image Quality

    - The DJI Inspire 2 integrates the new CineCore 2.0 image processing directly into the aircraft, allowing for 5.2K video capture in CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes and more. As for still imaging, the Inspire 2 is capable of capturing 20.8MP stills using the Zenmuse X5S Camera.
  • Obstacle Avoidance

    - Flying the DJI Inspire 2 drone just got a whole lot easier. A second pilot's camera, or often referred to as an FPV camera, has been added to the nose of the aircraft to ensure the pilot always has a forward view of the aircraft's travel path. In addition, obstacle avoidance sensors are on the front, bottom, and top of the aircraft to ensure the drone detects any obstacles in its path.
  • Smart Return to Home

    - Using the integrated obstacle avoidance sensors along with the Inspire 2's camera, the Inspire 2 can plan a safe route home in the event that connection were to be lost or the drone has gone out of sight.

Camera Options for the DJI Inspire 2

With the release of the Inspire 2, DJI has also unveiled two new Zenmuse cameras, the Zenmuse X4S and X5S. These two cameras are designed to serve both the filmmaking industry with the X5S, as well as those operators that don't require professional grade imaging by using the X4S.

Zenmuse X4S

The Zenmuse X4S is the predecessor to the Zenmuse X3 which was the standard camera on the Inspire 1. The Zenmuse X4S features a 1-inch sensor and boasts a still image resolution of 20MP and 11.6 stops of dynamic range. The Field of View (FOV) of the X4S can be compared to that of a 24mm lens. The Zenmuse X4S is capable of shooting up to 4K video at 60 FPS. The X4S is the perfect balance between agility and image quality.

Zenmuse X5S

The Zenmuse X5S is the camera that is included in the Inspire 2 Premium Combo and is suited for professional filmmakers. The X5S features a Micro Four Thirds sensor, a dynamic range of 12.8 stops, and much improved signal to noise ratio and color sensitivity than it's predecessors. There are 10 different lenses that are supported by the Zenmuse X5S with it's interchangeable lens functionality. The X5S is capable of capturing 5.2K 30 FPS CinemaDNG video and Apple ProRes video. Still images on the X5S are 20.8MP. Without a doubt, the Zenmuse X5S is the best professional aerial camera, and most likely will replace many traditional cinema cameras.
