DJI Cendence – Powerful Remote Controller for Professionals

On April 23rd, 2017, DJI announced at NAB that it would releasing a brand new, highly customizable analog remote controller– the DJI Cendence remote controller. The announcement arrived with an overwhelming batch of new product releases– including DJI Goggles, Tracktenna, Spark, M600 Pro/Ronin-MX/H6D-100c, and the Ronin 2– all of which seem to be leaving DJI practically bursting at the proverbial product-launch belt line. To add to the chaos, DJI is facing low production supply for the highly anticipated, previously announced CrystalSky monitor, which seems to have been looming over them for longer than initially expected.

In the wake of the recent Mavic Pro launch, and now the new Spark mini-drone, it’s no secret that DJI has made noteworthy strides to innovate high-quality consumer-grade, hobbyist drones–ultimately making drone technology more accessible, affordable, and user-friendly. However, the news of a high-performance remote controller like Cendence certainly makes a statement and reassures the professional community that DJI is dedicated to its more seasoned aerial photographer and videographer customer base.

Bolstering over 16 newly added mechanized buttons and 4 dials and knobs, the DJI Cendence is sure to have the drone community swooning over its substantial form factor with the child-like RC enthusiasm imbued within all of us tech-geeks. Cendence is essentially DJI’s first multi-platform controller and allows users to program and store customized button configurations for a plethora of different flight and shooting options. Here are some of the key features that the DJI Cendence will offer:

Features

    • Built in Focus dial

–used for pulling focus real-time and can also be used for manually adjusting aperture settings
    • Telemetry screen

–fully integrated, “mini-CrystalSky-like,” ultra bright LCD screen built into the base of the controller, transmitting a wide variety of numeric flight data including everything from camera parameters, flight status, the remote controller’s remaining battery levels and more
    • Powerful Transmission Capability

–comes stock with SDI and HDMI ports built into the back of the controller, capable of live broadcasting and streaming applications straight from the remote at 1080i at 50 fields per second and 720p at 60 frames per second. You can also adapt it to use DJI’s Lightbridge or WiFi video transmission technology; and with the new DJI Tracktenna, you can broadcast more stable, higher-bandwidth transmissions over even longer distances than ever before– up to 10Mbps within 1.24 miles

  • Fully customizable buttons

–Cendence dons an array of 16 different buttons with both preset control and programmable control. This allows you to still fully take advantage of toggling shutter, speed, aperture and ISO while simultaneously giving you access to a wide variety of other quick shortcuts for your most frequently used drone and in-camera settings, like obstacle avoidance, home point resetting, close warnings, focus peaking, and color waveform–all of which can be directly adjusted through the Cendence controller without having to navigate the touch menu settings on a mobile device
  • Optimized Battery Life Control

–Cendence does not have an internal battery built in. Instead, it relies on the same external batteries that are responsible for powering the CrystalSky monitors–lasting up to 4 hours. This completely eradicates the need to be near anywhere near a 120V wall outlet when you have a dead controller, making it easier to prolong your usage and flight time by simply swapping out a dead battery for a charged one
